The inerds of this differential tried to escape. And almost succeeded.
Found on a FB for sale.

Oof!
Too many burnouts? You have to work hard to cause that kind of carnage.

I’ll tell you exactly what happened. some 16-year-old idiot drove that truck, and thought it was neat that he could stop with one wheel on a slippery surface, hit the gas, and when the wheel with no traction eventually grabbed dry pavement it’d do a neat 1.5 second burnout.
that puts an enormous amount of stress on the spider gears and will break them in short order. I knew of a number of jackwagons in high school who did that to their (or their parents’) cars. Especially in the weak-ass 7.25-7.5" gear axles common in cars of the day.

1. Take out the rear drive shaft
2. Engage 4x4 and drive it around till you have no floor
3. Sell for profit because of ridiculous truck market

Anybody remember neutral drops?

Yes I do, they are what killed my 92 Camry.

Sounds about right.
Not that I’ve ever been involved in something like that.
Especially not in an 83 Diplomat.
Nope..

Pretty sure the cross-pin broke, being that I can see it sticking through the cover in two pieces. I think he put an extra 0 on the price.

I think you’ve never bought a truck in your life.

No I’m familiar with the absurd price of trucks, especially around here where they’re all that rusty. I think those people all have extra zeros in their prices, too.

Not when somebody buys it with the extra zero

I think if someone paid $1200 for the above truck, they’ve got an extra 0 in their bank account.
